Dissemination
All CESSDA archives are committed to open access to data and operate similar dissemination policies. Although details will vary, the basic services and procedures will include licensing agreements, levels of access and end user licences.
Licensing Agreements
All data collectors enter into an agreement with the archive concerning the level and type of access to be available to secondary users. A licence document is most often signed by both archive and data collector in order to protect the respective interests of both parties, detailing the conditions of the secondary access. [more...]
Levels of Access
The level of access offered to secondary users, and the conditions attached to that access will vary, both between individual data collections and across the CESSDA archives. Although a discussion of the full range of dissemination conditions would not be appropriate here, a short list of these would include public-use files, restricted-use data collections, and data enclaves and secure data services. End User Licences
Most CESSDA archives provide a variety of methods for gaining access to data for analysis, ranging from online access, freely downloadable files, data on magnetic media and so on. Details of these are available on their individual websites. Most archives will also ask secondary users to sign a special undertaking licence form. [more...]
